It Christmas Eve and this year, as always, at my house, there a lot of anticipation. And by anticipation, I mean that the kids don want to go to sleep (I have a totally different idea). Wee tracking Santa progress via NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command, a United States and Canada bi-national organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning, aerospace control, and maritime warning for North America). As of this writing, Santa was last spotted at La Paz, Bolivia, and was headed for Caracas, Venezuela. He still has a lot of ground to cover before hitting Pennsylvania.
As a result, wee had quite a few discussions in my household about how Santa manages, in one night, to get all of his work done. Clearly, he has help. And that has financial and tax consequences, right? So we had a little chat about Santa money and his tax bill. And here what we a tax attorney and three kids decided:

First, when compared with developed markets generally, Asia emerging markets have had higher rates of historic economic growth, and growth expectations for the year ahead are generally higher as well. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects growth in developing Asia of 6.5% in 2014, compared with 2% in developed markets generally.1Since 1999, the region has seen strong growth even in 2009 when developed markets fell into recession, as you can see in the chart below.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Vera Yuan]
We bought relatively small new positions in Willis Group Holdings and Avon Products in the third quarter. Willis (WSH) is a leading global insurance broker. We have followed this attractive industry for many years through investments in Aon, Brown & Brown and others (including Willis under prior management). Organic revenue growth has been solid, and Willis has a near-term opportunity to expand margins through expense initiatives and restructuring savings that are likely to kick in next year. We think the stock should be revalued higher once management follows through on its pledged cost discipline and drives operating leverage. Avon (AVP) is a direct selling, branded beauty business undergoing a turnaround in the U.S. market. The overwhelming majority of Avon business value comes from its stronger positions in Latin America and other emerging markets. Our investment thesis is that well-run direct selling can be a decent business with solid margins and high returns, that the Avon brand is not fundamentally broken, and that the U.S. business is bottoming as evidenced by break-even results in the most recent quarter. Avon has a wider range of potential outcomes than our typical investment and is sized accordingly.

WSH Dividend Yield: 2.89% - [By Jonas Elmerraji]
$11 billion UK insurer Willis Group Holdings (WSH) is another uptrending channel. The big difference with Willis is that this name is actually at its trendline support level this week. Better still, shares are bouncing higher -- and it makes sense to buy the bounce here.
Buying off a support bounce makes sense for two big reasons: It's the spot where shares have the furthest to move up before they hit resistance, and it's the spot where the risk is the least (because shares have the least room to move lower before you know you're wrong). Remember, all trend lines do eventually break, but by actually waiting for the bounce to happen first, you're ensuring WSH can actually still catch a bid along that line.
The 50-day moving average has been a good proxy for support on the way up, so it's a solid place to put a protective stop if you decide to be a buyer at this point.

Whereas in the 1970s there were limited ways to hedge against inflation, now there is a cornucopia of currency and international commodities instruments that can not only hedge against inflation but other global shocks, such as market bubbles and even war.
And it is these very scenarios that investors have been worried about. Since the beginning of the year, stocks, bonds and just about any investment you can think of have gyrated wildly at various times amid concerns of war, inflation and the possibility that the U.S. equity market is overvalued and headed for a correction.
In response, some market analysts in Bloomberg news reports have offered any number of wildly unsubstantiated statements for why investors should ignore today’s perils. They dismiss the danger posed by Russia annexation of Ukraine Crimea region (utin will stop short of other countries or war with the West. They also argue that the Federal Reserve chairwoman misspoke (anet Yellen really didn mean a rate hike is coming soon. Inflation is under control. It was a rookie mistake.
For my money, here’s the most outrageous: The Shiller Cyclically adjusted P/E metric which has predicted the 1929, 2000 and 2007 downturns doesn apply (uggests only a slightly expensive market with low to moderate returns going forward on average.
With new records being set by the S&P 500 in the last few months, it stands to reason that some investors have not needed much convincing to stay all in and buying. This mindset has prevailed, even as the impact of a Russian war or conflict, runaway inflation or a market correction could be devastating to investor portfolios, taking years to recover.
If youe never thought of certain investments as “insurance,” it time to start now. Protecting wealth is as important as building wealth. And as previously mentioned, we have found that the Inflation Survival Letter Thri

To free up more cash, it plans to reduce expenses by close to $200 million, reduce peak inventory, separate Sears Hometown and Outlet businesses and hardware stores by transferring them to shareholders, which would raise $400 million to $500 million, and selling real estate for 11 stores to General Growth Properties (GGP) for $270 million. At the end of December, it said it would close as many as 120 stores.

I think J.C. Penney's best bet for generating cash is selling off a few of its most desirable stores. This is not a palatable strategy, as it means losing some of the highest-potential stores, but it could produce cash without severely diluting the interests of J.C. Penney shareholders or adding interest expense that J.C. Penney cannot afford. For example, Sears Holdings, another struggling department store giant, was able to sell 11 stores to General Growth Properties (NYSE: GGP ) for $270 million last year. Bill Ackman's Pershing Square hedge fund happens to be a major shareholder in General Growth. This could open up an opportunity for J.C. Penney to pursue a similar deal -- if any of its real estate would be sufficiently valuable to General Growth.
